St. AndrewÂs eNewsApril 30, 2024 | | JOY Joy does not arrive with a fanfare, on a red carpet strewn with the flowers of a perfect life. Joy sneaks in, as you pour a cup of coffee, watching the sun hit your favourite tree, just right. And you usher joy away, because you are not ready for it. Your house is not as it must be, for such a distinguished guest. But joy cares nothing for your messy home, or your bank-balance, or your waistline, you see. Joy is supposed to slither through the cracks of your imperfect life, thatÂs how joy works. You cannot invite her, you can only be ready when she appears. And hug her with meaning, because in this very moment, joy chose you.

Athanasius is venerated by the Roman Catholic, Western Christian, Coptic Christian, and Eastern Orthodox Churches. Some Eastern Orthodox churches use the following troparion (hymn) to St Athanasius:
O Holy father Athanasius, like a pillar of orthodoxy you refuted the heretical nonsense of Arius by insisting that the Father and the Son are equal in essence. O venerable father, beg Christ our God to save our souls. |

We plow the fields and scatter the good seed on the land, but it is fed and watered by GodÂs almighty hand; he sends the snow in winter, the warmth to swell the grain, the breezes and the sunshine, and soft refreshing rain. |

| Rogation Sunday May 5
Rogation Days are the four days leading up to Ascension Day (see below for more on Ascension Day). Rogation Days began in the 5th century when St Mamertus of Vienne developed processional liturgies to pray for GodÂs blessing and protection over the land, especially the fields where they raised their food. On these days, Christians are called to go beyond the sacred spaces of nave and sanctuary to bless the good earth God has given. To this end, weÂll gather in the memorial garden after worship (both 8:00 and 10:00) to bless the dirt and put some in a bag to take home for your own garden. | | | Ascension Day Celebration Thursday, May 9 at 5:00 pm Oceanside Resort, Ocean Park RV site #7, LaPush Kite flying/Beach walking/general looking up ;-), followed by Holy Eucharist, Potluck Supper, Campfire.
