Morning Prayer

Morning Prayer will be held Tuesday through Friday at 9 am throughout Holy Week.

Wednesday Holy Eucharist. 11:00 am

Holy Wednesday— also known as Spy Wednesday— was the day that Judas Iscariot partnered with the Pharisees to betray Jesus. The Pharisees agreed to give Judas for thirty pieces of silver in turn for a time and location to arrest Jesus so that he could be killed.

The Pharisees needed an inside man who could provide a time when Jesus was alone. They were scared to arrest him in public because they feared public outrage or a riot. So instead, they opted for a secret arrest in the middle of the night, and they made an agreement with Judas to betray Jesus.

Maundy Thursday Agape Meal

April 17 at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall

On Maundy Thursday, we will share together an agape meal, a practice which dates back to the early church. Traditionally, this is a simple meal of fruit, bread, and wine/juice. We will share a worshipful, candlelit meal and communion, including a time for foot-washing,  followed by a solemn procession for the stripping of the altar.

There is plenty of room for everyone. Please come.

Good Friday

Stations of the Cross at noon

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you:

Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

Praying the Stations of the Cross helps us to remember Christ’s suffering and his journey to the cross. Through these prayers we can connect with Jesus' passion, reflect on our own lives, and grow closer to understanding God's love and sacrifice.

Time of Prayer & Meditation

12:30 - 3:00 pm

Traditionally, Christ was crucified at noon and died at 3pm, so those three hours are the most intense period of prayer, contemplation, or walking the Stations of the Cross.

The Great Vigil of Easter

Saturday, April 19 at 8:00 pm

The Great Vigil is the first liturgy of Easter.  The service begins in darkness and consists of four parts:

The Service of Light: a new fire is kindled, and from it the Paschal Candle is lit, symbolizing Christ, the light of the world.

The Exsultet: an ancient song of praise, is sung or said.

The Liturgy of the Word: key passages from Scripture recount the history of God’s mighty acts and promises.

Holy Baptism or the Renewal of Baptismal Vows: we are  united with Christ and one another in His death and resurrection.

The Holy Eucharist is the proper culmination of the Easter Liturgy. As we keep this holy feast, we share the joy of our Savior’s triumph and are strengthened by his grace to walk in newness of life.
